Colours
in Feng Shui
If our three-dimensional world
is void of colours, then the beauty of the living
Earth would be lost in a murky cloud of grayish
gloom. Colours accentuate dimensions, textures,
depths and perceptions of all things in the Universe.
They are the essence of the vibrant energies we
see and feel all around us.
When natural or manmade light
reflected off the surface of an object is dispersed
in a cocktail of light in specific wavelengths,
it gives rise to the natural colours of that object.
Since colours are basically reflected light energies,
it is easy to see why colours can affect our bodies
as much as the heat from sunlight does.
The effect of colours on the
human body is well documented in many scientific
studies. Of particular interest is the study which
proved that colours has an effect on the intensity
and quality of human aura, which in turn affected
the human physiology and psychology. In Feng Shui,
the human aura is called Man Qi, and since colors
affect our auras, we can use colours to energize
or enhance our Man Qi.
Colours are widely used to activate
the energies of the Five Elements in Feng Shui
to either correct or enhance the Qi of an indoor
space. Specific colors, and their respective hues,
activate specific energies of the Five Elements.
These are summarized below:
Black or shades of Blue
activate the Water Element.
Shades of Green activate
the Wood Element.
Shades of Red, Pink,
or Purple activate the Fire Element.
Shades of Yellow or Brown
activate the Earth Element.
Gray, White, Silver or
Gold activates the Metal Element. |
